Sonrojo Beach

Sonrojo is the beach and dining operation belonging to the Mondrian hotel at Cala Llonga, on the east coast between Ibiza Town and Santa Eulària. Cala Llonga is a deep, sheltered inlet with a broad crescent of soft sand and unusually calm, shallow water, hemmed in on both sides by steep wooded slopes, which makes it one of the gentler swimming beaches on the island and a long-standing family choice. Sonrojo puts sunbeds directly on that sand for all-day use, with towels provided and hammocks set along the shoreline, and positions itself as a chiringuito rather than a formal restaurant: barefoot service, sand underfoot, no ceremony. The kitchen works a modern take on Mediterranean cooking, with tapas, paella and table-side sangria service as the recognisable anchors, alongside cocktails. Lunch runs every day through the afternoon; dinner is a shorter week, Tuesday to Saturday only, finishing before eleven. Being on the east coast in a bay that opens roughly east, Cala Llonga catches the morning sun over the water and loses the light early in the evening behind the ridge, so the good hours here are earlier in the day than at the island's western venues.
