Plage Les Elephants

Plage des Elephants is the small beach between La Nartelle and La Garonnette that takes its name from Jean de Brunhoff, who is said to have drawn the elephants of Babar here. The private beach of the same name sits on it, and its main virtue is space: the loungers are set further apart than on the busier Nartelle sand, so it feels calmer even in August. The kitchen leans towards Asia, with tuna and beef tataki, peanut chicken and a scallop wok alongside simply grilled fish, at moderate prices for the coast. Practical details are covered, with parking close by, private showers, lifeguard cover and access for reduced mobility, and there are watersports off the sand and live music on some evenings. The beach has no website of its own. The season runs from early April to mid-September, and lounger rates are not published, so telephone to reserve.
