Carizza Beach Club

Maganuco is the dune-backed beach on the south-eastern corner of Sicily, set between Marina di Modica and Pozzallo and framed by low cliffs, and Carizza has held a section of it since the summer of 2018. The most distinctive thing about the club is physical: the whole structure is built in timber as part of an explicitly eco-sustainable design, so the decks, the bar and the dining platforms are wood rather than concrete, sitting into the dunes instead of on top of them. Loungers and umbrellas are arranged in stations across the sand below. Alongside the beach service there is a restaurant working both fish and meat at lunch and dinner, which is unusual on this coast where the seafood monopoly is close to total, and dinner can be taken at the water's edge. A drink bar handles an extended cocktail list, and the Chillin Zone is a separate area given over to doing nothing in particular. Wifi covers the site and music plays through the day, lifting in the evening. It is a quiet corner of the province compared with Marina di Ragusa to the west, and the beach itself keeps its natural dune structure rather than being flattened for concessions.
