Horizon Beach Club

Horizon occupies a plot on Via Tono in the Baia del Tono, the bay on the western side of the Milazzo peninsula, with the Aeolian Islands on the horizon and Milazzo's castle and the terracotta roofs of the old tuna-fishing quarter behind. It opened in July 2018 as a full rebuild designed by architects Giovanni Fiamingo and Giovanna Russo, using wood and low-impact materials with geometry borrowed from formal Italian garden layouts, and it went on to be shortlisted for regional architecture awards. That design intent is the thing that separates it from the other lidos along the bay. Practically, it runs as a beach club with a swimming pool, serviced beach positions, and continuous food and drink service across a restaurant, bar and cocktail bar. There is a reception hall and an events space, and a large part of the business is weddings, including ceremonies held on the beach itself. Additional details include bike parking, safety deposit boxes and an on-site defibrillator, and animals are permitted.
