Lido Baiadera

Lido Baiadera is on the Tyrrhenian coast at Oliveri, about 300 metres from the Marinello lakes reserve, the shifting lagoons that sit under the Tindari promontory, with the Aeolian Islands visible offshore on clear days. The Scardino family opened it in the summer of 1997 and it has grown well past a simple sunbed operation. The rows of red umbrellas are the recognisable part, but the site also holds a 600 square metre children's play area called Baia BabyPark, an outdoor gym, beach volleyball, and a glass-walled terrace over the water that houses a sushi restaurant mixing Sicilian ingredients with fusion plates. Events run through the season, including live music, art shows and performances, and the venue takes private bookings. Two credentials are worth noting: the beach is certified cardioprotected with a defibrillator on site, and it holds the Bandiera Lilla, the Italian award for accessibility, with barrier-free access and disabled facilities.
