Lido Punta Burrone

Lido Punta Burrone runs the beach service on Lido Burrone, the wide bay on the southern side of Favignana and effectively the only proper sand beach on an island otherwise defined by quarried limestone and rocky coves. The bay is enclosed by pale white cliffs, the sand is soft, and the water sits shallow and turquoise a long way out, which makes it the one Favignana beach that genuinely works for small children. The lido puts out around forty umbrellas plus gazebos, and mixes classic sand pitches with wooden decking platforms for anyone who prefers a firm base. Its best feature is the service model: you order from your sunbed and the bar and restaurant bring it down, so the day never breaks for a queue. The food is deliberately simple, fresh dishes, snacks and cold drinks rather than a full restaurant production. Free extras include snorkelling gear, charging points, parking, beach games and a first-aid room; there is wifi, showers, wheelchair-accessible facilities, and dogs are welcome. Beach, bar and restaurant all run until nine in the evening, unusually late for a Sicilian lido.
