Lido Mediterraneo

Lido Mediterraneo takes a section of the beach at San Vito Lo Capo, which is really the reason to come: fine, pale, almost powdery sand, water that stays shallow and turquoise a long way out, and the limestone bulk of Monte Monaco rising directly behind the town. The Caribbean comparison locals make is, for once, not far off. The lido itself is on the Lungomare, with its reserved stretch of beach less than a minute's walk away, so guests check in at the building and then cross to the sand. Service covers umbrella and sunbed rental, and the same operation books guided excursions to the Zingaro reserve, Favignana, Marsala, Trapani and Palermo, which makes it useful as a base for a week rather than a single day.
