Lido Majata Beach

Majata sits on the Punta Grande stretch of coast at Realmonte, about five minutes on foot from the Scala dei Turchi, and that proximity is the main reason people book here. The white marl staircase rises roughly 50 metres out of the sea just along the shore, so the view from the loungers is the cliff itself rather than an empty horizon. The lido runs around 200 sunbeds on a sandy shelf, with five hot showers, eight changing cabins and toilets including an accessible one. It opens daily from 9am to 7.30pm. The kitchen works from breakfast through lunch and on into aperitivo hour, and the menu leans heavily on fish alongside a long list of pasta and grilled second courses, with enough table capacity that lunch does not require military planning. Parking is on site, subject to space. The club also runs catamaran trips that leave from the beach and take you along the base of the Scala dei Turchi, which is the only way to see the formation properly now that access on foot is restricted. In practice this is a straightforward, well-run family lido that happens to have one of the best backdrops in southern Sicily. Places are worth reserving ahead in August.
