Cotton Beach Club

Cotton Beach Club is built up the hillside above Cala Tarida on Ibiza's south-west coast rather than down on the sand, which is the whole point of it. The terraces face due west across the bay, so this is one of the island's reliable sunset positions, and the operation is organised around that: the beach section runs through the day and the restaurant carries on into the evening. The bay below is proper fine sand, clean and clear of rock and weed, shelving gently into calm shallow water, which makes it easy swimming and one of the better family beaches on that stretch of coast even though the club itself skews adult. The look is uncompromisingly white, with a large terrace stepping down towards the sea and daybeds spread across the levels. The kitchen runs Mediterranean cooking alongside a full a la carte sushi list and an aperitivo-style buffet, backed by one of the longer wine and cocktail lists on the island. The season starts early, on 1 April, which is well ahead of most Ibiza beach clubs, and in June the club closes on Tuesdays. Online booking is capped at eight people; larger groups have to arrange it by email.
