Blue Marlin

Blue Marlin sits at the far end of Cala Jondal on the south coast, in a natural amphitheatre of low cliffs and pine. The shore here is not sand: it is smooth, dove-grey elliptical pebbles worn round by the sea, with patches of white sand laid in front of the beach clubs, which is why the water stays exceptionally clear and why regulars bring water shoes. The bay is deep enough close in for tenders to come and go all day, and Blue Marlin runs a boat and dinghy service for guests arriving off yachts, though it needs booking in advance. This is the island's flagship daytime music venue, and the model is explicit rather than coy: loungers carry a hire fee plus a minimum spend, big beds seat four and carry a much higher one, and if you do not claim your reservation inside the stated arrival window you lose it and your deposit. Music plays outside until eleven at night and then moves indoors until around two in the morning. Food is the other half of the operation, with a serious kitchen and a raw and sushi offer that holds up independently of the soundtrack. Children are welcome until eight in the evening, and longer in the restaurant, though management advises against bringing very young children on event days.
