Venice Beach

Fondachello sits on the Ionian shore directly below Etna, and the beach shows it: this is not golden sand but a long shore of dark gravel and near-black volcanic sand, coarse underfoot and noticeably warm by midday, with the volcano filling the view inland. The water is clear and deepens quickly. Venice Beach runs one of the equipped stretches on Via Spiaggia, laying out well-spaced umbrellas and loungers alongside showers, changing rooms and a set-back relaxation area, with parking and free wifi. Food is handled on site by a restaurant, a pizza oven working through the day and a bar directly on the sand, so a full lunch or just a cold drink both work without moving the car. There is a beach volleyball court, table football, board games and cards, and animation staff running activities for adults and children. Access is adapted for guests with disabilities. The club is explicitly dog friendly and makes a point of it. Bookings cancelled within two days of arrival are returned as a voucher rather than cash, and same-day reservations can be cancelled up to eleven in the morning.
