Tropical Beach

Tropical Beach at Capaci, about twenty minutes west of Palermo, is really two connected sites rather than one. The beach half sits on fine golden sand with clear water that shelves gently, lifeguarded and equipped with umbrellas, loungers and deckchairs, cabins available for the whole season, changing rooms, showers and a shaded refreshment area serving traditional Palermitan dishes. The other half sits back from the water and is the reason people choose this over the plainer lidos nearby: a large outdoor pool ringed with loungers, a gym running zumba and aquagym classes, football, basketball and volleyball courts, a bocce court, an amphitheatre, a video room and a guarded car park for guests. The programme is what defines the place. An animation team runs games and activities through the afternoon on both the beach and pool sides, there is a mini club for children in both areas, and the evenings turn to shows and disco nights. This is a lido for people who want the day organised for them rather than a quiet stretch of sand, and it suits families with children old enough to be handed over to the entertainment staff for a couple of hours.
