Malibu Beach Club

Malibu is one of the cluster of long-established beach operations strung along Ses Salines, sitting right on the waterfront of the busiest section of the beach. The sand at Salinas is fine and pale and the water shelves slowly and clearly, protected as it is inside the nature reserve, with the salt pans and flamingo lagoons immediately inland. The club's layout puts a large field of sunbeds and umbrellas directly on the sand with waiter service running out to them, while the restaurant sits back on a terrace under shade, working a straightforward menu of salads, seafood and grilled meats. That arrangement means you can spend a whole day without moving much, which is the point. The atmosphere is louder and more social than the quieter beaches to the west, and the beach in front is where much of Ibiza's daytime crowd congregates in July and August. It runs on a seasonal cycle, opening around the middle of April and trading through to October before closing for the winter. Salinas faces roughly south toward Formentera, so it holds sun for most of the day without offering a sea sunset.
