Lido Il Delfino

Lido Il Delfino occupies a plot in the bay of Mazzaro, fifty metres from the lower station of the Taormina cable car and about a kilometre from the motorway exit, which makes it one of the easiest beach clubs on this coast to reach without a car. Mazzaro is a shingle bay rather than a sandy one: coarse grey pebbles underfoot, water that goes deep quickly and stays exceptionally clear, and steep slopes of Mediterranean scrub closing the bay on both sides. The lido is arranged over two large terraces, one laid out as a restaurant and the other as a snack bar, with the umbrella and deckchair rows on the beach below. The restaurant is well known in Taormina in its own right, working Sicilian recipes and seafood with a long wine and dessert list. On the water side, the club rents canoes and pedalos, runs water skiing, organises guided dives, and puts out boats for the short crossing to the Blue Grotto and Isola Bella. Free wifi covers the terraces. The lido closes for the winter from November through March.
