Estamine

Estamine is the single building on Ilha Deserta, also called Ilha da Barreta, the southernmost point of mainland Portugal and part of the Ria Formosa natural park. The island has no roads, no houses and no permanent residents, and is reached by passenger ferry from Faro at roughly five euros one way. The restaurant sits on a wooden deck over the sand and serves fish and seafood, with a takeaway counter for drinks and lighter food. Sunbeds are available to rent on the beach. Because the island is protected, facilities are deliberately minimal and everything is brought in by boat. The water is clear and shallow along the shore and the beach is long and open.
