Cocoon Beach

Cocoon Beach is at 165 Promenade des Anglais, out towards the airport end of the bay opposite the Lenval hospital and wedged between the Fabron and Brigitte Bardot public beaches, which makes it a much quieter proposition than the clubs clustered near the old town. The shore is Nice pebble, so reef shoes are worth packing, but the water off this section is clear and drops away quickly for anyone who wants to actually swim rather than paddle. The club's own selling point is spacing: loungers are set further apart than is normal on this coast, with a separate quieter area behind, which is a real difference when neighbouring beaches pack three rows tight. The look is bamboo and white cotton, and the mood shifts through the day from a lounge-and-coffee start to Mediterranean cooking at lunch and music into the evening in high summer. Being away from the centre it is easier to reach by tram or on foot along the Promenade than by car. The club publishes very little practical information, so confirm hours and the current lounger tariff directly before you plan a day around it.
