Agua Beach

San Lorenzo is the long sand beach on the south-eastern tip of Sicily, wedged between the Vendicari nature reserve and the fishing village of Marzamemi, with baroque Noto inland. The sand is pale and fine, the seabed drops away slowly, and because the bay is wide and open the afternoon breeze is reliable, which is what makes this stretch a watersports coast rather than a purely sunbathing one. Agua Beach takes advantage of that: alongside umbrellas and shaded palm structures sized for two to four people, it runs a windsurf and sailing school and rents catamarans, SUPs and canoes, with flyboard sessions and SUP yoga on the activity list and boat excursions leaving from the shore. Service is called to the umbrella by QR code. Food is spread across formats rather than concentrated in one dining room, so you can take a Sicilian breakfast of granita and brioche at the bar, eat self-service at lunch, or sit down properly in the evening for Mediterranean plates, pizza and sushi. A good deal of the produce comes from the operator's own inland country resort. Parking, hot and cold showers and wifi are all on site, and the location works as a base for Vendicari and Marzamemi.
